I left my heart in Mexico. I'm an American who is disgusted and appalled that anyone ever voted for Trump. I love books, dogs, nature, photography, 420. I loved my time as an expat. Wife, mom, grandma. I block XXX and ignore fundraiser accounts. I 🤬.

Also, just a reminder that if you have a U.S. library card, you can download movies through the apps Hoopla and Kanopy, plus my library has DVDs for checkout, which is slower but covers some movies not available on streaming. I just put Sneakers on reserve. I love that movie.

Life is so tough when you are a deeply loved Chihuahua.

#Bluesky has arrived. A clue in the NYT mini-crossword today: Left-leaning social media site.

This is a fascinating book. Margret Wittmer and her family were the first enduring settlers on the Galapagos Island of Floreana. I didn't know that the U.S. leased the islands from Ecuador during World War II and built a base on another island.

So I'm guessing Felon47 is golfing or taking a nap. It's nice to have a break ...

This is our son's dog. This sweet-looking pooch eats or chews whatever she can find, with no remorse: leather gloves, plastic containers with a smidge of food, our granddaughter's $50 birthday gift, a sofa, windowsills, gates, the toy to give her intellectual stimulation ...

Can a citizen BE deported? That seems like a misuse of the word. I think "kidnapped" is the word you meant.

Did you know that to get a passport for a child, both parents must sign, to prevent parental kidnappings? The father wasn't given his rights. ICE facilitated a kidnapping.

Anybody use one of those auto ball chuckers with overactive labs? Did they just eat it?

I have some good memories of the Gulf of Mexico, on the American and Mexican side.

The Poisonwood Bible, along with streaming The Good Wife, helped me get through a month of bed rest in Nicaragua, so it has a special place in my heart.

I just read Nesting, a lovely novel that helps answer the question: "Why doesn't she just leave?"

It's not like airline safety is important.

There are those who destroy and those who build. On Monday, I witnessed a little drama involving these cairns in Mexico. It reminded me so much of the political drama roiling the United States, where I must return tomorrow. I am so going to miss this place ... the river, the city, the country. 💔

When the world seems terrible, it's time to be in nature more. I know I'm lucky to be able to spend time in Mexico. This is on the Cuale River near Puerto Vallarta. I love seeing herons, military macaws, and caciques.

I feel better already. I should have left the Xitshow sooner. It took having a new #PublicSquare at #Bluesky to divorce #X and admit it can no longer be the public square I used to love. #Deactivated.
