The Ancient and Esoteric Order of the Jackalope
@order-of-the-jackalope.com
We are the Ancient and Esoteric Order of the Jackalope, a secret society devoted to unearthing and sharing forgotten knowledge. In podcast form. They/them.
Actually, the dirty little secret of Trix and Froot Loops is that they all taste the same, regardless of color.
It's Episode 148! The Jareds Stern talk show regularity, reality show virginity, long walks on the beach, and pretentious wine snobbery. Enjoy! promocards.byspotify.com/api/share/a0...

Where I live it is "Love Your Library" month (www.loveyourlibrary.org) but it's a good time to show your love wherever you live. Well-funded public library systems create worlds of opportunity and build communities.

Dr. Walter Siegmeister believed we could create a psychic master race if we stopped having sex, took off our clothes, movied to the jungle, and ate only fruit and megadoses of lecithin. That wasn't even the weirdest thing about him.

It is weird to edit down an episode and see long gaps of mostly silence, then remember that was when my cat jumped up on the desk and I had to stop for a minute, pick him up, give him hugs, then put him down in the next room and tell him to cut it out.

Argh. I may need more volunteer voice actors if anyone is interested. One female voice, a variety of male voices.

Nothing like sitting down to do a little editing only to discover nothing you did yesterday got saved or backed up. Even though you explicitly hit save at several points.

It's very disorienting to read a biography of a cult leader, written during his lifetime by one of his devout followers. The writer is in so deep that he doesn't seem to know how weird he sounds or why his priorities seem so askew to outsiders.

Just now realizing I should have called this episode "I Love Your Bread."
She was the meandering metropolitan mystery, the famous will-o'-the-wisp of the continent, who fooled police and the public from Abilene to Akron. Who was this mysterious and alluring woman, and why did she love bread so much?

Between having to record tomorrow's episode four times for various reasons and Libsyn being down for most of the evening, this has been a hell of a day.

In 1903 Pennsylvania found the recipe for disaster: two of the greatest political cartoonists of the day and an easily caricatured governor with no sense of humor. Their battle went to some... unexpected places.

Just going to resurface this in the hopes that someone new will see it! Want to hear your voice on our show?
So, every now and then I need more voices than I can reasonably make myself. This is one of those times.

Who wants to hear their voice on a silly podcast episode? Message me if you're interested!

There's only only thing more disappointing than finally tracking down a source and discovering that it does not, in fact, have any new information on the topic you're researching: discovering that it also has at least three obvious and glaring factual errors.
