I am an aerospace engineer, and amateur runner, hiker, and maker. I am also trans, which if I fail to hide that in today's world I ought to use visibility for good. I plan to post a mix of personal and trans-positive content.
After a delay, the video from #AIAA #ascendspace is now online!

I highly encourage watching all of the speakers, and my segment starts at 36:00.

ok, cis folks—if you said you'd stand with trans folks, it's time.

S.9 is the senate's sports ban bill—a big step to making trump’s executive order a federal law, which is much harder to undo. it can be stopped *monday.*

short call scripts for dem & GOP senators ⬇️🧵

legiscan.com/US/bill/SB9/...
a cloture vote for the way-harder-to-undo-than-an-executive-order federal anti-trans sports ban is now set for monday. that means there's more time to make calls.

no on cloture means it doesn't get a vote. the GOP needs 7 dems to advance it.

please call. there is *so* much evil downstream of this.

Posting on social media is fantastic. You can follow it up by calling your congressperson - votes give politicians a binary yes/no on their entire platform, as their constituent you can tell them directly what you want the government budget to support and what will earn your vote in the future.

I was trans before I knew the word, and I wish it was not part of today’s politics. Starting transition had such a profound impact on my life that even when politicians target people like me, I do not regret this process. For my trans siblings: survive, build community, be visible iff it is safe.

I am honored to announce that I have been selected as the chair of the #education subcommittee for the #AIAA #thermophysics technical committee. I look forward to working with the subcommittee members to help more people access this exciting and challenging topic!

#AIAA #Aviation abstract reviews complete!
Paper reviews are a good chance for me to keep up to date especially when working in industry does not offer many chances to publish myself, it's actually one of my favorite parts of being on a technical committee.

This race meant a lot to me. Amid all the negativity this year, I ran in the male category for the first time. Hiding is right for some, and at times safer, but for me it was neither realistic nor effective, so why not make use of visibility - if it helps one trans person, it is worth it.

Running a marathon is at once analogous to transition, a healthy distraction keeping me centered during stressful times, and although I am simply continuing to enjoy a hobby I have had for years, an act of resistance against those who would prefer people like me withdraw from public existence.

This photo is a throwback from Halloween 2020 and a nice combination of several themes I'm trying to bring to my profile here - art (featuring a Jedi cloak I made several years ago & some very basic photo editing), wilderness (taken on dunes near death valley), and science/science fiction.

The Supreme Court hears arguments in Skrmetti at 10 a.m., a case that implicates the constitutional equality of trans Americans.

But it also affects all our rights, because it’s fundamentally about whether the state can impose gender stereotypes by force of law. slate.com/news-and-pol...

Tomorrow, Dec 4th, the supreme court will hear arguments in the case of Tennessee’s ban on gender-affirming care. I have seen no accurate discussion in mainstream media about the standard of care for the treatment being banned. Fixing that:
