Listening to @awintory.bsky.social’s Journey soundtrack this morning and whatever the music app thinks sounds similar. Good for the soul.

Day 12 in the critical care unit. My brother is such an amazing fighter. It’s so hard to watch him go through this.

Also didn’t realize that FMLA in the US doesn’t cover siblings. So that has been fun to find out “family” is limited to your parents, your kids and your partner exclusively.

This is day 9 after my brother’s motorcycle injury. They can wake him up enough to follow a few simple commands. They won’t know what deficits he will have for a long time yet. I have lived out of a hotel for a week. It sucks. Wear your helmets. They save brains.

Baby Girl is back out to pasture FINALLY. And she’s so bougie that I bought a truck just so I didn’t have to pay someone else to trailer her around. And I STILL needed a bigger truck to pick up our hay order. Oh life.

Not so little baby girl is not enjoying living in a stall or taking picky medicine but lots of pampering is right up her alley. The diagnoses weren’t good, but they weren’t life or future career ending. Shana still the love of my life.

Scariest days right now. Miss Ma’am is in the ICU trying to figure out why she is colicking and not doing well. Going into day two, they are going to scope her and do biopsies.

My last day at NPR was yesterday. I'm heartbroken about not working with my favorite humans. But I'm excited about what's next (more soon)!

My final story aired today on Morning Edition, it's about Musk, xAI and Memphis. I see it as a harbinger of what's to come...

Regional power authority approves request for Musk's Memphis AI supercomputer project
The regional power authority in Memphis approved a request for enough energy to power a small city. Elon Musk's AI company will use it for a massive supercomputer. The project was a surprise to many.

The Chinese Communists call these re-education camps. Backbreaking labor, no healthcare, starvation diets. What could go wrong?

Also author Philip Roth wrote about an ultra conservative pro-Nazi white supremacist winning the presidency and creating labor camps in his novel The Plot Against America.

This is going to be another hard four years, I fear. The anxiety is already churning- I don’t know what I’m going to do if hate prevails. My life, my relationship, everything at risk? I’m not ready for this. I already feel like I need therapy again.

thats just the opening act. Turns out the squirrel guy was actually using the squirrel insta to push traffic towards his rather homoerotic onlyfans page and now maga is unsure and doing civil war among themselves over whether the squirrel dying was good or not
Let me try to sum this up:

A guy illegally kept a pet squirrel, dressed it in MAGA outfits for Tiktok, and refused to vaccinate for rabies because he didn't want it to get autism. 🤨

Animal control took the squirrel. It bit an officer. They put it down to test for rabies.

And that put us...here.

This is what we call foreshadowing for what is to come during and after the election. This is brazenly corrupt and Biden must send in the troops to protect federal monitors. The white house has to do the right thing even if it is hard and scary, our democracy increasingly depends on it.
