An email from the US Department of Commerce titled “Planning for Potential Lapse in Funding.” It reads: President Trump opposes a government shutdown and strongly supports the enactment of H.R. 5371, which is a clean Continuing Resolution to fund the government through November 21, and already approved by the U.S. House of Representatives. Unfortunately, Democrats are blocking this Continuing Resolution in the U.S. Senate due to unrelated policy demands. If Congressional Democrats maintain their current posture and refuse to pass a clean Continuing Resolution to keep the government funded before midnight on September 30, 2025, federal appropriated funding will lapse. A funding lapse will result in certain government activities ceasing due to a lack of appropriated funding. In addition, designated pre-notified employees of this agency would be temporarily furloughed. P.L. 116-1 would apply. The agency has contingency plans in place for executing an orderly shutdown of activities that would be affected by any lapse to appropriation forced by Congressional Democrats. Further information about those plans will be distributed should a lapse occur.

I'm sure a lot of us have met Guiding Light before, but for those who don't know, she's a polymath (though mostly an author) who lived 150 years or so before the events of FiM. One of her contributions was to determine how the phoenix resurrection actually works (in my headcanon it's not automatic).

Guiding Light, a unicorn with goldenrod hair and an ankh necklace, is writing on a piece of paper, holding a red quill with her magic. The text in the back, partly obscured, reads in full: dynamics of persuasion, and it is most unchained in a democratic form. No one doubts that there must be at least a few limits, however. As written in the chapters here, the dynamics are best contained not by ordering the persuasive forces itself, but by molding the circumstances in which unharmonious ideas percolate, so that they can cool down such that they can no longer be so persuasive and thus destroy the very idea of democracy. Much of this molding has to be economic in nature. Thus is my third aim in writing the book. FOURTH, I write the book aiming to show persuasion in a democratic society. Many in statecraft have written books on the art of persuasion. But the art of being persuaded gets scant attention, only hinted at in the lowest levels, and not seen as essential at the higher levels. But this perhaps should be expected. It is, in fact, more difficult than the art of persuasion, as it requires one to actually understand what she hears. People not only are persuaded by different reasons and appeals, but it often becomes very difficult to distance oneself from what we believe we will be persuaded by—and yet full understanding needs a degree of distance. Thus, I do not lecture on how to be persuaded—ultimately the reader still is the reader. The dialectical approach I employ here should instead expose the reader to many different perspectives, as would be expected where prejudices do not block off understanding. I of course have a thesis to defend, but I leave that to the reader as she follows the logic of the exploration

I think this could fit the "dicey" side of the #NATGDay22 prompt as well, with all the uncertainty.
Fair Use, a deer with a unicorn's horn and dressed in a suit, but without his cutie mark, is carrying two books with his magic, one having an ionic column (signifying philosophy), and the other depicting a lab experiment (signifying chemistry). He feels distressed over these books, saying as he is looking upwards "Oh no... which to choose?" Fair Use has his eyes closed, still carrying his books, continuing to agonize as he says "Such a hard decision..." On his flank something flashes, and a scales of justice is starting to form there. Meanwhile, the two books are merging. Fair Use looks over at his flank, pleased that he finally has his cutie mark, a scales of justice balancing two Erlenmeyer flasks, saying, "Well, that worked out nicely." The book now depicts a scrolled paper with a red ribbon on it (signifying patent law).
