We are talking about the league maybe having to play 2 matches in December? Is that what we are calling unpleasant/dangerous? Because I would argue playing more than 8-10 matches through July and early August in 90-100 degree weather is a much better barometer for 'unpleasant/dangerous'

Looking at the weather history for NYC, first two Saturdays in December tend to fall between mid 50's to low 40's. Not great but, personally, I prefer this to 80-90 degree games in Orlando in July
