Judges Amul Thapar and John Nalbandian, both Trump appointees, co-authored a concurring opinion. Their opinion — with it's "the school is only allowing *some* pronouns for trans students (the accurate ones), but not others (the inaccurate ones)" — is a good contender for the worst opinion as well.

THAPAR and NALBANDIAN, Circuit Judges, concurring. We join the majority's excellent and thoughtful opinion. But we would go further and rule that the School District's policies are invalid because they discriminate based on viewpoint against one side of an ongoing political debate.
If there's one thing that everyone agrees on here, it's that pronouns matter. "Pronouns can and do convey a powerful message implicating a sensitive topic of public concern." Meriwether

The battle of the pronouns is a matter of serious political and social concern. Such speech is "at the heart of the First Amendment's protection." Snyder v. Phelps, 562 U.S. 443, 451-52
(2011) (citation omitted). So, in nearly any other setting, this would be an open-and-shut case.
