I see the animals have activated their standard winter operating mode...

Not ridden at all for the past few weeks for a variety of reasons so thought today would be a good day to recommence my Winter routine(ish) of starting the working week with a pre-work spin on the bike (no matter what the weather).

A properly dreich and mizzly day for it...

Some words of mine have made it into @dpadartmoor.bsky.social's wonderful Wild Words compilation of Dartmoor writing which will be released as a digital magazine on the 28th of November.

Really pleased to be part of this great project connecting people with landscape through storytelling and words.

A good few weeks away, I know, but if you're in Exeter and need a respite from the festive retail madness then our son's band The Juliettes are headlining this new band showcase at Bomba down on the quay on the 23rd December.

Should be a fun night.

Also, if anyone is visiting from 1991 and needs a cover for their shoegaze EP, I may be able to help...

Walked the dog and got a bit distracted.

Only slightly channelling my 16 years old self...

Pint of snakebite, anyone?

Anticipating grain.

Looking across to Ramsey from St David's Head in a gathering squall last week.

View of the storm lifting over St Brides Bay - taken from the side door of our van from where we were camped when we woke up on Saturday morning.

I could have watched the light on the bay change for hours.

Was lovely to meet @bccamplight.bsky.social after his Saturday headline slot at Boia - been really enjoying this in the van since.

Tickets booked for The Phoenix - look forward to seeing you in Exeter next week!

A close second was @scottlavene.bsky.social possibly committing a church full of people to the fiery depths of hell with a singalong of the chorus from The Ballad of Lynsey...

Can confirm... here's our lad 12 years ago and then again on a Big Day Out on the bikes in The Lakes last year...

Fantastic opportunity here to gain experience in a freelance data role in the conservation sector.

It's a lovely team, and a chance make a real difference in improving outcomes for wildlife and nature on Dartmoor whilst also supporting local food producers.

Heavy weather over the Warren House yesterday evening.

Also got caught in an almighty squall whilst clambering up Birch Tor.

Definite change to the season over last few days.

I love the crazy speed at which the light and weather changes up here at this time of the year.

The location set that's being built up at Assycombe Hill for the Werwulf movie being shot on Dartmoor at the moment.

Quite the spot. Would happily take it off their hands to save them the hassle of taking it all down at the end of filming...

The clay pits along the route of the railway line near Teigngrace worry me. The embankment there was already breached during Storm Bert last winter. There is a huge volume of dirty water, a lot of downstream development and plans to reopen the area north of there for quarrying.

Popped up in photo memories from 8 years back.

Playing with the big toys at Exeter airport on an aviation exercise.

Bit late to the party here, I know...

I've loved @gogo-penguin.bsky.social's Fallowfield Loops since first hearing it over the summer, and I've been playing it loads, but have only just got to listen to the whole album today, and it's excellent.

Treated myself to this little gizmo to replace several other boxes - it's a headphone amp / multi fx unit / amp modeller with NAM/ looper / tuner / stereo audio interface / drum machine... with Bluetooth streaming.

Very impressed so far... really fun and useful - for £40 it's quite astonishing.

From this morning's dog walk. A dreich Autumn morning on Water Hill - a thick fog just starting to ease off the moor as we made our way back to the van.

I know I shouldn't be surprised by such utter garbage from her, but yet another classic case of Tories knowing the cost of everything but the value of absolutely nothing.

I thought this nonsense idea that degrees serve only as a narrow funnel into specific careers had died years ago. Clearly not.

Love the beautiful cover photography from @alecbowmanclarke.com too.

Been looking forward to this... just arrived in post. Now playing and sounding fabulous.

Thank you @josienneclarke.com!

Brief clip of a (very) short film I've done based on the @dartmoorcollective.org Flow brief and which I'll be showing at next week's zine launch.

Bit of an experiment this - mixing up video footage taken on the moor over a 2 year period with a layered synth sequence and ambient drone.
