IIRC culture drones are created and asked to serve for a limited time before being free to do whatever. Or slap drones might be directly controlled by the mind of that habitat?

CRIMSON PEAK is wonderful but it's very much a gothic love story. Got screwed by the marketing trying to make it a normal haunted house film, it's not really about the scares.

Nice to see a practitioner way in on one of the big YIMBY mysteries: why didn't builders stop the destruction of the growth machine? Well, it turns out they can become specialists in the zoning that strangles growth!

Ok, but look, what if you really do love filing meeting notes.

I also think their view is untrue (I think MattY is accurately describing what they think) In a world w/out the filibuster, centrist dems could try and get more legislation passed with say +2 dems and Rs losing Rand Paul or some other random member.

Well I don't know. DuVerger's law seems weaker empirically all the time. Canada, the UK, very serious weird tings going on there. In the US ballot access laws seem like the big problem

Marxism is not a very popular ideology this days in the West, but it's interesting how a sort of vulgar material Marx critique is very popular. Elites cause bad thing X to divide the people. Or right wingers spend a lot of time arguing cultural issue Y is really material

It's funny b/c the major way we pass things now is having a Senator who wants to be IN THE ARENA. Like, say what you will about Manchin, he loved being the pivotal man.

MattY writes a bit more about the thinking in his newsletter, where he says that the cavers caved to preserve the filibuster (which he thinks was bad). But I'm not actually sure the filibuster helps mods. In a filibuster less world, wouldn't they get to pass more mode legislation?

The real q is why don't the most mode senators decide everything every time? It's a bit mysterious

Raw technical skill is very interesting for those who do it but is a bit empty for everyone else.
Weirdly, the best Expression I've ever read is this profile of the then world's greatest juggler, and why few care

I wish every Trump flack a fun time arguing that adjusted for inflation real wages have gone up, and if certain goods have gone up more than that that's cherry picking. Been there man! Have fun being Brandonized.
And if things actually get bad well sucks to suck

Mr. Palmer, I have a very vague memory that you once posted a study about the frequency of food poisoning in developing China (it was high) as an example of how often people were probably sick in the early modern world. Do you remember this? I can't find it, I've spent ages looking. Apologies.

Hitler did ask for that right? Our situation is increasingly strange in that Trump wants something to pass (I suppose maybe he just wants the clean cr passed from the house which doesn't need them to come back) and each body is just... Not.

Isn't this "solved" by making more two character words? Like that's a long term trend for sinitic langs, no?
