Dog tax, because he’s still my absolute favorite creature even when he’s being a total ausshole.

My proudest internet moment is introducing a portmanteau for ”spare parent” to more than 22k people who also seem to understand what it’s like being your beloved dog’s least favorite housemate.

(But also: Keep going and look at me so I can finish.

Also also: HOLY SHIT I WISH I WROTE THIS.)

Had to rethread the yellow floss at the perfect point.

God, the dude writes ONE coprophagia scene and then no one takes his foresight seriously for another 50 years.

Every day is heavy now but yesterday was Black Dog Day, which raises awareness of how black dogs are often overlooked in shelters.

This saucy Aussie has been my favorite house wolf for almost 12 years, and being his second chance is the only motherhood I crave. (Even if Daddy is Favorite Parent.)

Picked the right pattern to be working on when I found out I didn’t get raptured for, like, the sixth time.

But also.

In honor of #NationalDogDay I am continuing last year’s tradition and posting the two goodest boys in the world, even though @beaniezee.bsky.social and I aren’t posting about it from the same sofa this time. (😭)

The void is my son; the potato is my nephew. They are both PERFECT.

I am unsure why spending half my day in a grand-jury selection has me absolutely wiped out, and said as much to my husband. His response: “That’s anxiety, baby!”

Meanehile, a deadline’s breathing down my neck but all I want to do is disassociate to some cross stitch. So here’s a month’s progress.

One week in, this project has already taught me to check out how much floss I need *before* I start so I’m not making a Michael’s pickup order three hours before the store even opens.

Progress of a project I will eventually photograph in decent lighting.

I was going to yell about hating genAI because it brings us one step closer to the dystopia of Vonnegut’s ”Harrison Bergeron” but I’d rather celebrate finally hunting down all the right DMC floss to start this project.

I’m doomed to forever juggle multiple projects in various states of progress so I decided to cross stitch some pieces in honor of the influences that shaped hubs and me, starting with Gir. (Bonus: begrudging proof that weaving in ends rather than knotting them yields comparatively cleaner backs.)

I’ve been meaning to make this for so long that I’ve long since forgotten where I found the design. Whipped this up today to get the quick dopamine fix of starting and finishing a cross stitch piece in a few hours before diving into a much bigger one.

This week, I finished one cross stitch piece that took about 2.5 months to complete and another that took a couple weeks, because sometimes you just gotta stab something a thousand times.
June 13, 2025 at 12:32 PM
Etsy error in my favor: Bought something to continue the tradition of sneaking presents into bestie’s luggage/home and accidentally also purchased a “Fix your hearts or die” cross stitch pattern I forgot was in my cart, so I guess my next project’s figured out for whenever this monster’s done.

The stoner secret is using the ends to fill in weird gaps so you can justify what’s essentially a vessel for the best cream-cheese icing you’ve ever made.

The tiny stabbings will continue until the emotional-support weed kicks in.

Look at this beautiful couch panther who indulged me in cuddles last night.

About a week into my first attempt at a full-canvas cross stitch project. My husband saw the pattern I’m working from and apologized for it.
