When public media disappears, so do the stories that bring us together.

With federal funding eliminated, millions may lose their last trusted source of news and connection.

I'm just here to note that the feels-like temp makes it 10+ degrees warmer on the outside of my body than it is on the inside of my body. Which seems (and is) super-gross.

What's the coffee mug situation? Are we all-the-same-design people? Eclectic mix people? Do we carefully select the exact mug that matches the current vibe or is it just the one the hand lands on? I literally just washed and dried a mug, looked at it, said "Not today," and picked a different one.

Today I didn't write 1000 words on my WIP. It was a long day of work and other commitments. But in my wee notebook I scribbled out thoughts, diagrams & questions that will find places in the story and help the story find its way. I'll take it as a win. #1000wordsofsummer #authors #writers

Highly, highly recommend watching. It's only half an hour long so if you'd watch a show you can watch this for the sake of American democracy. If you can't watch it all, watch some. But I have a particular appreciation for what she says beginning at 32:00.

It's a really, really serious time in the world. And there is something I have to say. There will be a lot of people who don't agree with me. Unfortunately, it's not a matter that is subject to opinion.

Is your research yielding laughable online ad service? One of the storylines in my book involves lobstering. I looked up some dimensions for traps and now I'm constantly getting online ads for crab traps, accompanied by bizarrely unaligned light piano jazz. #writers #authors #booksky

Just spent an hour talking to a homicide detective to make sure I didn't go wild with a character. Now that's something I didn't think I'd ever do on a Friday night 12 years after leaving the news biz. #writers #authors #booksky

For anyone who might need to listen to something that feels like that weird mix of hope and sorrow and grief and beauty and pathos that there's probably a word for in German. Close your eyes and let it wash over you. If it doesn't work, do it again. Give it room. #music youtu.be/cAbt00m4tC4?...

Today's announcement from #jeffbezos about #washingtonpost intentions on its op-ed page is gutwrenching. Good journos there. I'd like for anyone within the view of this post to never click on that page online and to use the print version only to line bird cages and otherwise deal with excrement.
