Vultures have complex social networks! They will follow the cues of other scavengers to find carrion e.g. if an eagle dives, a vulture will follow, and another will follow that one.
Black vultures will also follow Turkey Vultures, who have a superior sense of smell!

Thinking about all the poor dogs that have been 'trained' with harmful, incredibly stressful methods based on "pack theory" and "bE tHe AlPhA!"

Nobody talk to me I'm thinking about the damage that the pack theory ("alpha wolf") has done to the understanding of animal sociality 😔🖐️

(despite one of the main researchers who popularised it retracting the theory and publishing plenty of good research on natural wolf social behaviours)

I ran a #SpeculativeEvolution creative activity while interning and would like to present the Rategarbiotest by one of our students:
A foot tall, very muscular future evolution of Brown Rat (rattus norvegicus). This rat can produce an electrical field and has toxic breath from eating rubbish.

Anyone else ever get hit with the random sadness that they'll never know where evolution goes in the future.

I just wanna know how many pseudo crabs there will be in a million years :(

My design choices that No One asked about:

I chose a vague lagomorph sona because they're some of my favourite animals! Rabbits are naturalised to the UK, brought over by the Normans whereas (mountain) hares are native, and spoken about in Irish mythology. Plus, I have a hare tattoo!!
