They lack the emotional intelligence and self-awareness to understand this. They’ll talk of righteous indignation at a sinful world when in fact they’re enraged by their own failing to meet their impossible standards, and can’t stand to see others without such burdens.

They follow strict social rules their whole lives, are punished egregiously and without a fulfilling explanation for exactly why, and those wounds run deep.
To see others not living in the small boxes they put themselves in makes them envious, and the fury that follows is what we see.
