It was an honour to be part of the plenary for the 9th meeting of Portuguese Anthropological Association held in Viana do Castelo. If it was not an invitation by Prof Cristiana Bastos, President of the Association, I would not have ever discovered the stunning city of Viana do Castelo 🙌❤️

Congratulations to Mayor Zohran Mamdani and to New York for showing us how it’s done and also giving the worst people in the world a very bad night.

Just found out Zohran Mamdani said he’d arrest Netanyahu if he lands in NYC—because no war criminal should be above the law. That’s the kind of courage we need in a mayor. A city that stands for human rights, not genocide.

This interview may not be seen as helpful in this moment to scientists who see "politics" as a dirty word.

But there is no outside the social. We help train Indigenous scientists to do science with joy in support of Indigenous life & governance, and we'll continue amidst volatile settler politics.

I was invited to give a seminar at Università di Bologna last week. It was an absolute joy to engage with the students and warm academic staff. The Adriatic Sea, incredible seafood, rich Italian coffee, and the cozy, quiet charm of this academic city made the experience truly unforgettable ❤️
