[he/him] Just goofing around on here and seeing what's up. Following tradition that all my accounts are just PCs I've made.
TERFs, MAGA, and assorted reactionary a-holes can stay away.
Also, special note to having the whole thing in a sun bleached, run down, trailer park filled Bakersfield.
Definitely made the story have a sort of visual exhaustion that matched its narrative resignation.

The multiple explicit sex scenes were fun, tho.

In the end, the ride was an enjoyable one. Even with the overall happy ending, there's a bitter nihilism to it all.
And I feel like that's the point. Honey isn't going to save the world, everyone is fucked up or incompetent, and nothing really gets better.
But that's how Noir be sometimes.

All the performances are top-notch. The plot isn't overly complex.
But there's a MOOD over the whole film that's just "Forget it Jake. It's Chinatown."
Tons of stuff just HAPPENS.
There is no big central MYSTERY.
And its pacing is almost intentionally plodding. But I don't think I care.

Oh, definitely. It allows Clark to have some imperfection but in a way that still honors his core.
But also the frayed emotional aspect between Clark and Lois was what made them think it had to be someone who had been divorced.

Had a convo on the hellsite. Someone pointing out the interview between Lois and Clark in the new movie could ONLY be written by a divorced guy. Not in a bad way, but in the way someone who's seen a relationship break down could.
I got to point out it was with Pam from the Office.

If you ask for the median, you get jailed.
If you ask for the mode, you get shot.

Like, every movement gets a CHANCE to communicate their side, and the fascists did!
It got pretty solidly rejected.
There is no special case for constant RE-trying to make their case.
It's why we don't actually care what flat earthers say.

And if it means anything, I am a lifetime Nebula member.

At the least, it wouldn't have come off as so "expectation subversion" type D & D, Game of Thrones type shit.
And giving her agency in her own death, instead of making it just random happenstance, let's her display her virtues.

Feel like it could have been more profound and understandable with just 2 tweaks:
1: Don't have the romance rekindled moment. Instead, have her CAUTIOUS because she's aware she does dangerous stuff and could die. The relationship is conflicting for her.
2: Have her TAKE the shot for someone else.

The line that solidified him as an apex baddie for me was "If I win, I get to be a king. If I lose, I get to be a LEGEND."
But also how he was (at least last we saw him) thwarted by his focal Hero character just ignoring him because there were bigger fish to fry.

Just finished watching this and during the final bit, about how even opposing the narrative still elevates the narrative, and it made me think of a GREAT villain from the OotS webcomic, Tarquin.
And how his whole villainous M.O. is based on understanding narrative.

Like, I could EASILY see Augments as something closer to child soldiers and/or cult members.
Parents either did it on purpose, indoctrinating them into a life of secrecy. Or it was subjected TO them, weaponizing an unwilling community.
January 16, 2025 at 7:30 PM
Oh, totally true. Just on how allegories can go sideways because the fantastical elements confuse the point.
God... but Augments as Gay ppl just makes the case that shitty parents are how gay people happen. That is a wild one.

It's sort of like the Mutant conundrum in Marvel. All the allegorical connections to POC and Queer ppl, but at the same time half the arguments also sound like NRA talking points.

Listen, don't even think you're entirely wrong about Corpo Dems. But to act like the Republicans are not JUST as bought if not moreso, esp as Musk is still acting like Trump's Dudebro-in-waiting and Zuck is cheering shit on w/ Rogan, you are simply foolish.

I'm just curious what other game people think of this, and what you might want as options.
