My last film of the year was Rebel Ridge and what a goddamn pleasure it was. I dunno how this diamond slipped through the generic sludge of the Netflix process, but somehow it did. Simultaneously the best action film and the best legal thriller I've seen for months.

iOS is such garbage. Whenever it fails or errors it doesn’t even tell you what’s happening. It tries to hide everything behind ever spinning wheels and nonsense.

so i just learned that Goya painted “Saturn Devouring His Son” on the wall of his house and it was later transferred to canvas. Imagine living with that thing painted on the walls of your home. Jesus Christ.

I follow a couple of accounts belonging to people who are both extremely well informed politically and sports fans of some flavor.

Every now and then they post something cryptic like “Jeezum Crow!”—and I first spend a moment panicking before checking and it’s a ball game thing. Unnerving.

"Saved Ontario From Nuclear Destruction" is quite the line-item for your résumé when you’re 28, and perhaps might have won you some votes in Michigan nearly 30 years later.

That time Jimmy Carter saved Canada from nuclear destruction
In 1952, an accident at Canada's Chalk River Laboratories in Ontario caused a partial meltdown in an experimental nuclear reactor.

Why is that we have lots of Christmas movies to choose from, but there are no New Year's movies? Or Easter movies, for that matter.

This is an important debate and has far-reaching consequences for life in America:
Car bloat is a disease – and it’s spreading.

Here are a few of the stories I wrote in 2024 about dangerously huge vehicles. 🧵

This year GM killed the Chevy Malibu, the last sedan available to Americans from the Big Three. 4/5 new US cars are SUVs or pickups.

Detroit killed the sedan. We may all live to regret it
GM ending production of the Chevy Malibu underscores that the Big Three are done with sedans. But consumers may not flock to expensive SUVs in response.

If anything better regulation is needed. Staff pay rises before cash buyback of shares. Staff training before CEO bonuses. How about ending golden handshakes for board members who fail and the 'resign' when they should be done for misconduct. Why must it always be deregulation?
