Mostly then and now pictures of the Steel City , occasional personal views on music, life and dogs 🐕
Never Fear Dam today, looking appropriately spooky. Supposedly named after a ghost appeared to two miners walking home after their shift. Seeing their shock, the spirit reassured them with those words

The stream on my daily walk has been virtually dry all summer and the footbridge redundant.

Over at Whiston this morning for the act of remembrance. Always humbling to hear our Grandads name read out in the roll of honour. Victor Wells 1916-43 #RemembranceDay

Mighty machines at work over at Staveley. Preparing the way for the reconstruction of Bellhouse Basin and the next 400 yards or so of the canals journey towards Renishaw. Huge amounts of earth needed to make up the required ground levels. Mind boggling stuff

2/2 The gateway was saved and re-erected a little further along the road. A stark reminder of a swathe of destruction that swept through the East End in the early 80's.

It's stunning. The custodian met a gruesome end in the civil war. In the opposite direction, Warkworth.
The keep is totally intact with all the internal layout. Fascinating place

I can highly recommend Chepstow if you are ever down that way.

Stunning out there this morning. The zig zag hedge line isn't what it seems. I've got an old field map and the hedges ran off all those right angles. Over the years they were grubbed out in favour of praire style fields for the farmer to work.

Former Queens Road Tramway Depot from the junction with Charlotte Road. The picture is from 1989, I can't work out why, but I have no recollection of it at all. I must have passed it so many times #Sheffield

The Stranglers tonight , at O2 Leeds, absolutely superb performance.
Jean-Jacques Burnel, at 73, still laying down those amazing bass lines.
Pity about the huge queues to get in, I literally caught the last 15 minutes of the Buzzcocks support set #Stranglers

Just over a year ago,my little mate Daisy was hit by a car, I thought I'd lost her.
Thanks to the amazing staff at Vets4Pets on Birley Moor Road, she pulled through. She's blind in one eye and a bit nervous around traffic, but otherwise OK. Here she is on our recent Cornish trip
