Really enjoyed this book about Sacto's Olympic swim coach Sherm Chavoor, but opens up a slew of questions- like why did he adopt the name and bio of the original Sherm Chavoor (a UCLA football player)? I guess we'll never know

Just finished Skyline, reporter Gene Fowler's uneven walk down memory lane, revisiting his early New York days. Lots of Damon Runyon nuggets, lots of Hearst anecdotes... and lotta stories of folks who were still remembered in 1960 when this was published but who are pretty much forgotten today.

Met up with some car geek pals and did a New Years drive and picnic in the Delta. My Crosley was the oldest car (1950) AND smallest displacement (723cc) in the bunch, but it ran like a champ!
