As more flock to this platform, I wrote about the Royals for a long time, and now podcast about SVU and movies that we grew up watching but haven't seen in ages on @unkindrewindpod.bsky.social. Season 2 starts dropping this week. Royals fans will know one of our S1 guests, @maxrieper.bsky.social.

In our final episode of Season 3, indie filmmaker Nick D'Agostino revisits a film he watched hundreds of time before turning 10, subjecting his extended family to it on every vacation they took. How did Robin Hood hold up after a couple decades of not seeing it? Watch and find out.

In the century leading up to 1975, nearly 6000 freighters went down in the Great Lakes.

The Edmund Fitzgerald was the last.

The last. In 50 years, not a single commercial freighter has been lost in the Great Lakes.

Why?

It's NOAA. Of course it's NOAA.

Now Pandora is on. What happens in Czechia stays in Czechia. Goddamn is this another banger. The Chernuchin years may as well have been crafted by aliens.

End Game was so unbelievably awful. And it was obvious instantly. That SVU fell so far from what it did so well is jarring. The new Fazekas-led eps have me hopeful, but it’s often such a bummer to watch a later SVU that JUST. DOESN’T. WORK.

We recorded 243 last night. It was S20E24, the last #SVU for Chernuchin (and Stone). If you’ve seen it, you can only imagine how we felt about it. Watching Closure Part 2 on USA right now, and it’s so glaring how disparate a good ep and a bad ep of SVU are. This is so good. It’s immediately obvious.

I routinely say this is my favorite show. That hasn’t changed, and I have wanted to do a podcast about it for so many years. It is such a rewarding watch, as I can attest to having watched it all six times and counting.

This is a fun journey for the listener, where everyone likes the movie well enough, but the more you talk about it, the more it starts to unravel. My take is Disney made a weird, perhaps incomplete movie on the relative cheap that still wins on vibes.

Can we talk for a minute about how truly baffling it is that Lukas Haas is in the Int'l Players Anthem video? I have to know how this happened. Like I might be wrong but the only other white person appears to be the random bagpiper in the background. How did Lukas Haas end up here?

As a bonus ep, Adam and Josh got to sit down with Neal E. Fischer, the man who literally wrote the book on #SVU. It's a great book and a fun chat, though we're very concerned for Neal's well-being after watching the entire series in three months.

Really great time spent with Nick D'Agostino revisiting this one that I'd not seen in ~35 years. I remembered quite liking it, so I had a little more skin in the game than usual, and I'm not sure it held up great.

Don’t you have a progressive bill to performatively veto that your party handed you?
For the first time in 25 years, Major League Baseball has a repeat champion, and of course it’s California’s own Dodgers.

Speaking of questionable Roberts decisions, enter Yamamoto a day after throwing in Game 6. This can’t possibly go wrong.
This has the even worse knock-on effect of emboldening Dave Roberts to believe he’s capable of making better decisions than the nerds telling him 2025 Miguel Rojas has no business starting in the playoffs.
How do you hang one so badly that this incarnation of Miguel Rojas hits it that far out?
