This early disco-type song was on my TIDAL Daily Discovery playlist and I don't recall hearing it before. The vocal from Shirley is pretty fierce so I clicked through to learn more and…is that Nixon on the cover? 👀 😳 😂 tidal.com/album/298095/u

Thanks for introducing me to Hatchie @olderbrothersam.bsky.social
I love when an artist can unabashedly wear their influences on their sleeve and yet produce something so enjoyable and original.

We interrupt our countup to mention the completion of one (1) IKEA Kallax container shelf. 😄 We're at #79 but there were a couple that I listened to that were new or out of order.

We now return you to Your Older Brother's #vinyl countup. Please keep your hands and arms inside the car at all times.

New Order released Movement on this day in 1981. Peter Saville's beautiful cover was based on Fortunato Depero's Futurismo design from 1932

078. The Sandals - The Endless Summer

I don't recall many of the songs here being in the movie aside from the title track, but that one's a classic. Great film, too, iconic poster (seen here). (CW for racism tho) Lots of "motorcycle as a sound effect" on this album, did not care for that. 😂

So Swervedriver is playing a show in Denver next May and I just got a ticket. 😳 Thank you @jtheis.bsky.social for the heads up!! 🙌🏻 💃🏻

Have a listen to one of the great songs of the 90s: tidal.com/track/191544...

077. EMF - I Believe 12" single

Probably this #vinyl came in when I was Music Director of the college radio station. I probably assumed it wasn't of value to add (I was probably right 😄), and I probably kept it. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

076. Electric Light Orchestra - ELO's Greatest Hits

Definite greatest hits comp here. Got this #vinyl when I was probably 10 years old? 😂 Pre-cassettes & CDs. (Well, cassettes were available, I didn't have a cassette player for another couple/few years)

074 & 075 - Electric Light Orchestra - Out of the Blue

Love the song Jungle in addition to the other hits, like Mr. Blue Sky. I wrote about this album on my blog a long time ago! 😂 yourolderbrothersmusicblog.wordpress.com/2011/10/26/w...

Dudes used to say "little girl" a lot in songs.

I feel like they don't as much anymore, and that's a good thing.

073. Richard Edwards - Sling Shot To Heaven

Richard re-recorded some songs he had written before Lemon Cotton Candy Sunset & put them here. This is grey semi-translucent #vinyl.

072. Richard Edwards - Ghost Electricity/Vampire Draw

I subscribed to Richard's Patreon for a couple years. He's one of the most generous musicians I've encountered, putting his music on sale a lot, releasing limited editions & songs to the Patreon subscribers. It means a lot to have him see us.

071. Richard Edwards - Sings the Margot & the Nuclear So And So's Songbook in Quarantine (Volume 1)

My pick from this one is "Your Sister's House" but there's a lot of good songs here. Very cool splatter #vinyl. I'd link to the music but I can't find it anywhere online. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

More beautiful music. "Pink Lightning" and "Inchyra Blue" are my picks off this one. Very cool blue splatter #vinyl, too.

069. Richard Edwards - Verdugo

Nice.

Probably the record I know & love best by Richard, it contains the newest song to make my personal "top 10 favorite of all time" list, "Olive Oyl." Released in 2018, I thought I bought a signed red #vinyl copy but it's clearly Neapolitan. 😂 ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

067 & 068. Richard Edwards - Lemon Cotton Candy Sunset

It's one album but it's on two 45rpm #vinyl discs. Great record, his first solo after the Margot & the Nuclear So & So's years. He's got a lot over on his Bandcamp page, link in the 🧵.

If you want a Spotify alternative that’s not financially entangled with the Trump administration, your only options are Tidal, Deezer or Qobuz.
OK folks, here's the deal. Spotify is running ICE recruitment ads and has ignored asks to stop. It's time to tell them we won't stream fascism - by cancelling our subscriptions. Here's how to get started: indivisible.org/cancel-spotify
