I vet everyone I follow and those who follow me back. It's a chore, but it is the world wide web we live in. It's why I created this account specifically to separate my interests. I don't get followed by politicos or most bots. Just bookworms & studious-types.

No. I think you are doing the work. Building the community & bringing people together. That is worth celebrating 🍾 & although you may feel it's a bit much, it is well deserved. Not many would take the time to connect the dots as you have. So, #Bravo to you, you history crusader!! 🏆🦸‍♂️🏆

3/ I should add *in my own lineage* he's the first one I have discovered.

Very interesting. It was my first encounter with such a soldier in my own lineage. I've seen plenty KIA, MIA, POW, deserters, etc... but that was new. Thanks for that tidbit, much appreciated 👏

I've not run across one in my own family tree before. I've had a few POW's (Gettysburg) but no "both sides" soldiers. My Virginians were "Charlotte Greys" under Lee's N.VA. army, surrendering at #Appomattox

2/ This line stems from my 6th GGF Henry Ligon > John Housen Ligon (RWP) > Nancy Jane Ligon-Lane > 4th child Silas P Lane > 1st son George Washington Lane - who fathered 3 children with his first wife, Mary Temperance Jordan; and another 8 children with his second wife. #genealogy #familyhistory

I've come across a few like that. When I do, I try to find a death certificate to add to the FGV memorial & send a suggestion edit. It's up the memorial Mgr to accept or reject those. I just keep rolling, not gonna argue with folks, too damn auld for that bs. Take it or leave it. #originalrecords

I am a volunteer on #FindAGrave, 14 yrs now. Taking photos (volunteer) and adding missing info during research - so-so source (as some may conflict with original records) always double check things.

Lol... those are just the horrific ones. There are many more pleasant tidbits, some tragic (infant loss) until vaccines, and others great struggles, migrations, and lineages. Finding the unexpected 😲 and the courage & strength to get on in such adversity.

I just took a keek in the library and didn't see it. Have it on order now. Watched a documentary on French Brides to Canada 🇨🇦 looking for evidence of such in published works. My spouses French ancestors and a few of mine may be among them, they go back to that period.

2/ He was shocked to learn that we were 13th cousins & that I was related to 18 US President's. He is my uncle by my mother's 2nd marriage, BTW. I also got a copy of this for my New England Plymouth Colony families. Many of whom are in published town records.

1/ I'm not sure I have. I do have a cpl of books my Uncle Wayne brought me when he came up from Memphis to collect his Walton research last summer... primarily because a relation of his (a senator) was in it. 🧵

I'm not too sure what a good platform might be. I know a few or have heard of a few (Blogger by Google, WordPress, etc). I'd welcome any advice at this point.
