If anyone wants confirmation that 2025 is cursed, in the roughly six weeks since it started my baby has had flu, an ear infection and this morning presented me with chicken pox all over her body.

Staging a rebellion. (Snuggling under the fancy handmade blanket we got for Christmas that Jon won't let me use because we might damage it)

I heard people wanted to hear the Pidgin in Hammajang Luck spoken! my accent isn’t the greatest, but here’s the passage I first wrote in Pidgin. it came out spontaneously, and even when I tried to rewrite it in Standard English, it felt wrong. so it stayed!

I just stumbled across this Kickstarter pitch for a fascinating and lovely-seeming documentary about an extraordinary man who sculpted for animation studios. There's 33 hours left to pledge, I'd love to see it come to life.

after spending the evening with my loved ones, celebrating this book that I poured so much of my self into—my heart is so full!!!

I went into this with low expectations: maybe I’ll get an agent. maybe I’ll get a deal. maybe a few people will like it. my expectations have been blown out of the water

Bleak bleak bleak. This is why publishers like Knights Of are so important. When they hit the scene and did so well I hoped it would mark a sea change. I'm so sad it didn't.

I've just returned to my flat in Manchester to find several lovely surprises in my letterbox, including this very kind Christmas present from @okyeahbut.bsky.social at Gollancz - an early copy of HIGH VALUTAGE by Chris and Jen Sugden! I can't wait to start reading.

Watching the Sound of Music as a kid, I never realised the Baroness was mean.

Watching it at Uni, I realised she was.

Watching it at 36, I feel like she's rather bloody justified, given as she's all but engaged and this randomer comes along and ruins it.
