The Leibreich piece is interesting, much better than the Fawcet.
Most of it isn't really controversial. But I don't see the evidence presented for their conviction that nothing campaigners do can have positive impact. None of this for example happens automatically or in a political vacuum:

I once complained to a council about routine two wheel parking on the pavement and in a few months they came around and put these signs up too legalise it.

Most of Barnet is like this. So depressing. Why do we need yellow lines etc when parking on pavement is already illegal? Because traffic wardens can't do anything about pavement parking?

Simon, should we not perhaps be a bit wary of repeating the worst parts of 20th century history? What if it breaking things turned out actually to be much"worse than doing nothing".
