And, to be clear, the "cement pond" music isn't the entirety of the score, it's just jarring in juxtaposition, like seeing Vince in doctor's mufti murdering one of his hits must have been for anyone seeing this AFTER he starred as Ben Casey!

Scorsese, right? Pretty sharp fellow, good taste in movies. Is he seriously trying to say (without saying) that he's never watched the Beverly Hillbillies by complimenting Perry Botkin's score for Murder By Contract without once mentioning it's the EXACT SAME Ellie Mae out by the cement pond music?

WHO was Mr. 'Stringbean'? Recorded 2 sides with Joe Morris ork in '53 and disappeared. My theory is it was one of the band members with some liquid courage and perhaps a wager to win ("I can sing as good as THAT clown, and he had a hit!"). The song rhymes "juicy" and "Lucy" quite a bit...#ShellacSky

Historically, the last day of a book sale is half-price, so I "fasted" yesterday after having been Thursday night and Friday. Seemed to pay off as I got this haul for just under twenty bucks. Some nice little finds tucked away in the shadows but for now - LOVE that cover for Mules and Men!
