A teaser for tomorrow's 100th anniversary of the Grand Ole Opry - guess the year when Ray Price was 'one of the newest' Grand Ole Opry stars?

Ah, this is what they'd been working on when I saw them live a few months ago.

Originally published in wraps, this 1942 Bulletin has been handsomely, if conventionally, bound by Grimm book bindery of Madison, Wisconsin at some point. Many black and white plates and multiple foldout maps enhance this comprehensive (at time of publication) history of the Caddo people. #BookSky

And, to be clear, the "cement pond" music isn't the entirety of the score, it's just jarring in juxtaposition, like seeing Vince in doctor's mufti murdering one of his hits must have been for anyone seeing this AFTER he starred as Ben Casey!

And while I'm ranting, how come "back then" gun stores, or sporting goods stores, just had cups of Nazi flags on the counter and no one even says "Hey, what's with the Nazi flags?"

Scorsese, right? Pretty sharp fellow, good taste in movies. Is he seriously trying to say (without saying) that he's never watched the Beverly Hillbillies by complimenting Perry Botkin's score for Murder By Contract without once mentioning it's the EXACT SAME Ellie Mae out by the cement pond music?

A mini-splurge with my Facebook settlement money. I was too lazy to transfer the money from PayPal and just used it at Oldies.com. The Shirley Scott is a double, so a total of 10 discs for just over 30 bucks with shipping. Listening to the J.B. Hutto first, of course! #NowPlaying #JazzSky #BluesSky

WHO was Mr. 'Stringbean'? Recorded 2 sides with Joe Morris ork in '53 and disappeared. My theory is it was one of the band members with some liquid courage and perhaps a wager to win ("I can sing as good as THAT clown, and he had a hit!"). The song rhymes "juicy" and "Lucy" quite a bit...#ShellacSky

Make mine Folk AND Sepia! (Note that the Folkies are ALL OVER the boogie with Huckleberry Boogie and Five-String Banjo Boogie...) (On the Sepia side, I NEED to hear Joe Thomas's Raw Meat!!!)

From the occult group-within-a-group of Bob Crosby's Bob Cats, Bob Haggart & Ray Bauduc conjured THE Big Noise from Winnetka. My 78 appears to have come from a Bob Crosby album, with Honky Tonk Train on the flip. Video shows them as performing duo!

From 'The Last Years of a Rebel: A Memoir of Edith Sitwell' by Elizabeth Salter. Question- what magazine published the story of this meeting? I have vague memories of reading it in some Beat anthology or collection?

Looking for the correct answer linking these two books. (By correct, I mean the one reason I bought both of them)

Historically, the last day of a book sale is half-price, so I "fasted" yesterday after having been Thursday night and Friday. Seemed to pay off as I got this haul for just under twenty bucks. Some nice little finds tucked away in the shadows but for now - LOVE that cover for Mules and Men!
