I think having another actor play Bond and having them slowly realize there were other Bonds whose memories they share could be really fun.

Not a Bond movie at all, but I’d watch it.

Avi seems determined to make sure nobody takes the topic seriously.

I genuinely think Avi Loeb is trying to achieve the opposite of his stated goals. He’s cartoonishly goofy.

Honestly all of the current big names in fantasy have such wildly different styles that it’s hard to compare them beyond “Well this is certainly different.”

No he doesn’t, lol. His lectures are all about how there are an infinite number of processes. You don’t have to like his style or process to get a lot out of his writing lectures.

I’m really debating pausing my current read to knock this one out. Sixth of the Dusk is some of my favorite Cosmere writing.

Warbreaker, Dungeon Crawler Carl and Red Rising are all hits that land in a similar way for me.

It feels like a crazy time to be a reader. There are so many high-quality authors right now that I think we have 30+ scifi authors who would be flatout dominant if they were doing their prime writing a few decades ago.

There’s never been a better time to just drop modern languages and build a new, better one from the ground up.

And there’s no solution for Dems to do the same. Cynicism is easy. The idea that you don’t want even a tiny attempt to improve the world to inconvenience you in any way is an easy sell. NIMBY bullshit is the default human setting.

I’m even doing it in this comment!

They win because they spent decades building a generally apathetic, ignorant public. Then they can push a button here or there, get some attention and activate a little chunk of those people for a few votes.

I think what they’ve built isn’t institutions. It’s exploitable ignorance and apathy.

It’s anecdotal but we saw this first hand while renting an electric car in Germany. First charge: empty second charge a week later: no slots available and people were just standing around talking. They told us they came to that station at that time due to the low price.

I honestly thought those were mostly bots trying to build up a post history of engagement based on very limited key words.

They do seem to hound you in particular though.
