the rear of a Spanish column, 1895. Cuban insurgents would let the bulk of the column pass and then do a cavalry charge into the tear, with machetes as their weapons. the few Spanish rifle-wielders would get 3 or 4 shots off (they had Mauser bolt-action rifles) before they were hacked to pieces.

Nat King Cole at the Tropicana, Havana, 1958 or 1959. Cole was very popular in Cuba and in 1958 he went to Havana to record "Cole Español," an album sung entirely in Spanish. It was immensely successful in Latin America and was followed by two more in 1959 and 1962.
