I am 48 and trying buy my first home, only because I have taken on my nephew. I don’t have space for him, and don’t want one of us to sleep on the couch forever. I can’t really afford it, but it seems more prudent to pay for a mortgage than the same amount in rent. I’m grateful it’s even possible.

Haha. Glampa it is. You obviously have influence over your grandson, which is a good indication that you aren’t out of touch and maintain a youthful spirit. Becoming clueless is the only real indication of age as a negative.
