I am 48 and trying buy my first home, only because I have taken on my nephew. I don’t have space for him, and don’t want one of us to sleep on the couch forever. I can’t really afford it, but it seems more prudent to pay for a mortgage than the same amount in rent. I’m grateful it’s even possible.
