Things that are wild:
I’m having surgery in two weeks. Hysterectomy. Will be missing work for 4-6 weeks for recovery.
My job keeps asking me if I’ll be coming to things like meetings and events. And if I say I’ll be recovering they gloss over, or ask if they can pick me up for such events… No.

I hate it when I’m at work for no reason. There’s nothing on my to do list, because I plan ahead. I’m sitting in the office today because my boss doesn’t plan ahead. Twiddling my thumbs in a salaried position. Cool cool cool. I could be reading a book.

Went to my local Hands Off protest today and it was so encouraging to see so many in my red county red state. There was this big Trump truck that kept going by - obnoxious, honking, playing this loud siren. My friends, the police pulled him over right in front of us. It was amazing.

incredible to have a president who appears to be speed-running getting impeached, and even more incredible to to have two other branches of government who are just sitting there watching it as if it is actually a livestream which they are unable to impact in any way

I’ve discovered that if I sing “no” instead of saying “no” to the things in my life that are asking too much, or are patently ridiculous, I feel better about it. That if I serenade you, it softens the blow. This has been people pleasing workarounds with Erin.

Calls and text messages have flooded me in the last 72 hours from friends and colleagues in Sierra Leone and elsewhere: Are my meds going to be cut off? Am I going to die? I don't know what to tell them. I don't know what to tell anyone. Hope is my whole jam, but I feel very distant from it.

I don’t know where to begin with TFG ending PEPFAR but it’s somewhere between “what the f*ck” and the realization that he’s actually just hate in human form. You end the program that sends HIV meds to countries with less resources? It’s m*rder without lifting a finger. Hatred on a global scale.

I’ve lost my best friend of 30 years. Even though the last 10 years we saw each other and talked less and less, she was my oldest and closest friend. It’s so odd knowing that the person who knew all those versions of me, from 10 years old and on is gone.
