5th place this week in the day 1 Galactic Warriors Caravan. Loads to learn & test but it paid off

Best known as a shmup god,T3-TBC can also make robots fight & had the best score across all platforms. CLOBTA also played on Switch so was able to take the win there

So there you go. A Taiwanese name, made famous in the UK, made as a cheaper version of a Japanese product which worked better but was too big & costly to break out of it's home territory

Fun Fact - Scotland had it's own brand of Control Box in 1990, Unitec's Universal Energizer

What differentiates a Supergun (as we now collectively know them) from a Control Box , is that the SG does not have a controller. You had to provide your own, historically a MD or Neo Geo controller as that's what they were wired for

They were smaller & cheaper than Control Boxes though

These things had been around since the mid-80s in Japan but were collectively called 'Control Boxes' as the hardware also involved 1 or 2 arcade sticks. They were big so rarely left Japan but a few smaller ones by KIC did. We knew them as KIC boxes & larger ones as 'Control Panels'

Ever wonder why a Supergun has such a stupid (but cool) name?

It was just a name used by Taiwanese firm Gamesgroup Corp, similar to later products like Super Wildcard & SuperUFO game copiers

Raven Games (London) got their own version made to UK spec & called it Supergun Deluxe. It stuck

Galactic Warriors was already out before Gamest existed but they covered it in their early 'What is Konami?' feature

Like a futuristic take on Yie Ar Kung Fu but with 3 characters to choose from & features like chip damage, air guards & projectiles, that would go on to become the norm years later

This week's Arcade Archives release is Konami's 1985 robot fighting game Galactic Warriors🤖

How's twitter doing these days I hear you ask?

Well, in Cyber-Lip related news, a middle aged Scottish dork on bsky is out-performing SNK's own official, paid for account's Cyber-Lip anniversary tweet, despite them having a six-figure follower count

Saudi blood money can't buy CLOUT like this😉

If they gain brains they can go on to make games about detectives & ghosts

Many CP Brain related mysteries can often be answered by 'it was made by a cat'

If you always go in door 7 first you will never get a duplicate stage, Cyber-Lip or a reload room so you can tell which pattern you're on and then either play each boss for score or just grab the reload and head for Cyber-Lip for the easier clear

Cyber-Lip boss room patterns:

There's 4 random patterns where you fight previous bosses, get a weapon reload and fight Cyber-Lip, the last boss. You must know the patterns if playing for score or if you want an easier clear.

After his insain-ness was cured by several grenades to the mouth, Konami purchased Cyber-Lip's remains & put his pneumatic teeth to use in Surprise Attack's space fortress🤔
November 7, 2025 at 8:18 AM
Can everyone please wish a happy 35th birthday to our definitely not insain but slightly evilly reprogrammed toothy overlord Cyber-Lip, who 1st appeared on the Neo Geo MVS back on November 7th 1990🎂

Just to say, this game's as addictive as hell. Especially the Caravan

Hi-Score Mode is unusual as it implements a scoring system that's not in the arcade game, where it was just number of kills / win or lose. It's not explained but I assume it now factors in accuracy, destruction & deaths too?

shove this image in their stupid face & tell them 'It's not ma'am, it's Ultraman...!'

I'll assume this trending ACA is either some US politics or baseball pish I have zero knowledge of or interest in but if it's about Arcade Archives Tokyo Wars, then that is a good thing

Play some Tokyo Wars. It has tanks in it
November 6, 2025 at 2:01 AM
I've not played Power Shovel ni Norou in years but Midnight Landing has me in the mood for some more Taito job simulation gaming just now
November 5, 2025 at 1:51 PM
It might be Tokyo Wars day but tomorrow's Famitsu reminds us of other recent ACA releases, Midnight Landing, Gee Bee, Battlantis, Joyful Road & Scion

An eclectic selection of games spanning genres & never before ported games from the 70s to the 90s. There's something for everyone

The controls may be the same but the stats appear to be a little different
November 5, 2025 at 12:40 PM
If it does not happen at some time I will buy a hat & then eat it

Dweeb will appear on our screens in the future. I am sure of it🙏
November 5, 2025 at 11:43 AM
When Tokyo Wars was showcased at the AOU Show, Namco hadn't found a voice actor yet, so snuck an employee in behind the players to shout the game's lines

Unfortunately, with 4 screens to cover at once he soon lost his voice & suffered a mental breakdown🫡
