I loved using the scooters when I lived downtown. Unfortunately I feel like the city is a real sprawl and using an uncaged vehicle for more than downtown scares the toots out of me. Lol.

You know, we're overthinking this. How bout instead the Windows installer just tells you what the disk is instead of "disk 0/1/2..." Let it read the title of the physical disk. That alone would be enough lol. But then again... I've seen people install M.2 drives into SATA power, so it might not help

You wouldn't need a database, 'diskpart' shows connectivity type as SATA, or NVME (and others?). based on that alone one could make an automated suggestion during OS install.
