![Ed and his workmates and other small queer businesses have been having their shared end-of-year holiday celebration at the same venue for the last five years. It's a bowling club which hosts all sorts of events, from barefoot lawn bowls to holiday parties to weddings.
Stede recently cancelled the wedding he was supposed to have at the same venue, but is yet to receive a refund of his booking fee. He's turned up to the venue in person to demand his refund, coincidentally while Ed's holiday party is happening.
It's summer in so-called Australia, and there's something in the air. Is it the gift of love or just an incoming summer thunderstorm?
