This also really ought to put the entire “send in the troops” editorial episode in a much clearer context for everyone who decided the important takeaway was an “out of control” newsroom rather than y’know a sitting Senator calling for people to be shot in the street.

It is fully possible to disagree in a seminar (I've never been to one where it doesn't happen) and even to have robust, useful conversations across pretty wide gaps in positions and commitments, but it does require that all involved be acting in good faith.
