This is my last CDM175 post this quarter! I finally finished (Un)Fortunate and it's been quite a ride, but I'm very happy with the outcome. I was able to learn a lot and I accomplished a lot more with this game than I thought I initially would. Thank you in advance for playing :) #smallgamestudio

I finally finished adding all 78 cards and their meanings! I want to try to add sound and maybe retry the flipping animation one more time. If it doesn't work then I might just scrap it, but at least the cards still turn around lol #smallgamestudio

I'm currently working on adding more Tarot Cards and meanings to the deck. I was originally aiming for half, BUT I think I may be able to include all of them. After that, I need to figure out how I want to incorporate the cat more #smallgamestudio

Right now I have about five different scripts to manage the cards, but I think I might change them to make them more according to the 2D aspects instead of 3D. I also want to find a decent font for the readings haha #smallgamestudio

I started transferring my scripts and assets into Unity's 2D Rendering Pipeline. Hopefully I can get it all to work again haha. There are a lot of card game tutorials on YouTube that I will probably look to for help #smallgamestudio

After talking to multiple people, I think I've come to the decision to switch my project from being in Unity 3D to Unity 2D. I have also done some research and I think it would be easier for me to use the cards and all my assets #smallgamestudio

Somehow now it shows a different card and only some descriptions...I also need to fix the mouse input😭A lot of things seem to be going wrong before this beta test, but I'm just going to trust the process lol #smallgamestudio

Somehow when I tried editing everything the animation for the flipping got lost :( I've been trying to fix it, but no luck so far. I might have to reset the main card settings in order to get it back #smallgamestudio

I managed to learn how to deal with animations and get my first card flip working. It is a bit easier now that I know the process, but it will definitely be tedious because there are 78 cards in total #smallgamestudio

I found a nice pixelated tarot card deck asset that was made by finalbosblues and posted on itch.io! I purchased it and will be using it in my final project. I really like that it comes with all the Major and Minor Arcana cards #smallgamestudio

I have been working on my presentation and alpha build of (Un)Fortunate for my final project! There are some things that I kind of want to add to my game (like a mini world for the player to go to before getting their tarot reading), but I'm not sure if that would be too much #smallgamestudio

I was having a lot of trouble with getting the diamond to disappear and respawn, so I ended up copying my script for my carrot from Project 3.1. I had a different vision for the initial project, but I think it still abstractly shows my point. #smallgamestudio

Finished (hopefully) the main scripts and now I can start working on the visuals for it. I think I want a line separating the two halves of the screen (kind of like games like Split Fiction or It Takes Two) and have the player control the two sides at the same time. #smallgamestudio

I have an idea for a game where the screen is split, and the movement is the same for the player on both sides, but one is moving slightly different than the other. I kind of wanted it to reflect two parallel stories #smallgamestudio

It's cool how this game simulates gravity, snow, and wind. It's visually pleasing to just watch the scenes change #smallgamestudioarcade3

This game seemed intentionally slow and had some poetry? It seemed as if it wanted the player to take their time. #smallgamestudioarcade3

We didnt know there was a wife...but it's okay we went back for her on the second run #smallgamestudioarcade3

This game was so sad :( all the squares kept running away #smallgamestudioarcade3
May 6, 2025 at 6:37 PM
This game seemed to portray anxiety in some sort of classroom that you can't leave #smallgamestudioarcade3
May 6, 2025 at 6:31 PM
This one seemed so hard lol but the common theme around all of them was really cool #smallgamestudioarcade3

Finally done for now. I think I was able to do most of what I wanted thanks to a bunchhh of tutorials. I want to eventually make it harder and make the strawberries obstacles but for now it's okay I think! #smallgamestudio

I lowkey changed my mind and I want to do a game where the ball/carrot appears on the screen randomly every few seconds and the player/bunny has to move to get it! I'm having a little trouble getting the ball to appear on the screen each time rather than somewhere off of it though. #smallgamestudio
May 6, 2025 at 6:17 AM
I decided to make a game similar to the one in the demo, but I'm doing a bunny playing with a carrot (ball for now) instead! I'm probably going to be referencing a lot of the code used in the class, but tweaking it a bit to make it a little different. #smallgamestudio

I was able to get the basics working and everything after a while. I'm really struggling with some of the input conditions because it keeps skipping over the questions and I've been struggling just adding more and more variables to prevent it but nothing's working so far :( #smallgamestudio

I was able to finish writing the story and finalizing the decisions I want. I wanted to expand on my 2.1 project with the cafe barista idea and have it be a little more complex. I have some ideas for implementing the different conditions, but I'm I'm not sure how to do it yet. #smallgamestudio
