Anachronistic appreciator. Dabbling in radio-frequency modulation, pipe organ playing and TCM watching. Former journalist, current product manager. Living in Peoria, Illinois, but forever a Kansan.
Daddy Warbucks gave the orchestra little chocolate coins, which a mouse then ate when I left them on my keyboard amp overnight. Definitely canon for “Annie.”

1999 vs 2025. ‘Annie’ was my first paid music theater gig a quarter century ago… the past two weeks, I’ve been using a keyboard I bought back then with summer job money ($1200!) Happily, the keyboard is still going strong thanks to some Mac Mini fortification and so am I.

Livid that I can’t find proper research into caffeine’s effect on musicianship to support my hypothesis that not only am I a total grump this morning while at my gig, but I’m also somewhat incapacitated.

I've been 'living' in "Oklahoma!" the past three weeks playing keys – and this darker revival version has won me over. It's been a delight playing in the round with these fine friends, but it's time to fully live in Illinois again.

Marking ye olde calendar for historic purposes here in Peoria, Illinois:

- March 13: First mosquitoes of the year (along Illinois River, to be fair)

- March 14: High of 82 degrees (33º above normal!)

- March 14: First severe thunderstorm warning of 2025 (and preparation of basement for tornado)

I'm sorry, but I'm one of those professional musicians who is just god-awful at music memorization. So I'm loving Herbie Hancock's taped-together jazz lead sheet at the Grammy's. (Oh, hi Stevie!)

It is indeed! I think Harpo wore a top hat (usually somewhat smashed)? And then you have Harold Lloyd's straw boater...

I don't know what I've done to deserve it, but Facebook now reliably suggests videos of plumbers clearing drains.

Today was my 137th wedding gig. And somehow the first where I had to haul my own keys.

My longer glass is in the shop, but why let that stop a little lunar eclipse trio?

Well, okay. What a fantastically annoying and worthless data point for my life.
