I've been at my desk for 3 hours & so far, I've had 2 coffees, checked my emails, followed a random chain of thought down a rabbit hole that involved looking up when Anne Boleyn was executed & started listening to 'a discovery of witches'
But I'm still on the intro of what I should be doing 🤦

I cannot keep plants alive, but I love the idea of having a kitchen garden.
This is my first attempt I've got: two beds of strawberries, half a bed of onions, a few pots of lettuces and beetroot with some courgettes propagating in the house
What could possibly go wrong?! :)

I also can't mess up with the cylinders (though I have known someone to force this and break the machine!) due to the pin index, which I think is much easier to visualise in person (see the distance between the pins in the photo) than the random numbers we had to memorise at uni!

If I've taken it completely a part, then I can't accidentally attach the other end of the pipe to the wrong part, thanks to Non Interchangeable Screw Threads (NIST)

There are loads of safety features on the anaesthetic machine that I appreciate from a #HumanFactors point of view - design machines that mean I can't make a mistake
E.g. as an #ODP when I move an machine, I can't accidentally connect the wrong gas supply because the #Shrader valves won't let me

Ok this isn't a great video because the gasses weren't plugged in, but I think its fascinating that this is how the manual hypoxic guard works on old anaesthetic machines.
Simple but efficient :)

Really good, but intense, day at the ESNEFT sustainability conference.
Lot of emphasis on how we should all reduce our meat intake. I'm not a vegetarian, but I almost never cook with beef or lamb, since I learnt how bad it is for the environment

It's been really interesting so far, hearing about what needs to be done
For example Prof Hugh Montgomery's talk - always eye opening! If you ever get the chance to hear him speak I highly recommend it
