I helped start a girls troop, alongside an existing boys troop, but ended up abandoning it and moving with the girls to another because there was too much resistance from some adult leaders who still viewed scouting through a "boys will be boys" lens.

And a culture shift within scouting that is all too eager to show them the door. Each year scouting becomes a better, more supportive organization for kids. And each year the cultural conservatives whine even louder, yearning for the good old days of hazing and sexual abuse.
