I should stay off social media until Essen is over. I wish I were there! 😭

Wanted to go to Gencon because we've never been--but the hassle with getting a US visa and dealing with ICE just isn't worth it. Will probably go to Essen Spiel instead! Have fun everyone! Looking forward to watching your videos.

The new Superman is my favorite since 1978' Richard Donner movie. What resonated with me was that this Superman is someone who is trying hard as an outsider to fit in and be accepted. If you've ever moved to another country, another state, or another town--you'll know exactly what that feels like.

Can someone explain to me why billionaires even need more tax cuts? If they were gold-hoarding dragons in D&D, everyone would be clamoring to slay them. (I'm not advocating the slaying of billionaires... that would be wrong)

If you see this, quote with a robot who isn’t from Star Wars, Star Trek, Dr. Who, or Transformers.

Catastrophic delamination after a London-Istanbul flight. These #Aldo shoes are super comfy… but the construction leaves a lot to be desired.

Anyone played Daggerheart yet? Would you recommend it to newbies who are NOT familiar with the D&D ruleset? Folks who want a one-time RPG experience but are unlikely to join a D&D group.

My #UKGE haul. Prioritizing small games that will fit in a backpack, games that won’t be available in Indonesia.

And with Daryl Chow of Origames. Picked up Cube Melt, a quickie dice chucker, and 13 Animals, mahjong-like gameplay with cards.

I’m a total sucker for the artwork for the Saashi & Saashi games and I’m so thrilled to meet the illustrator and her game designer husband at the UKGE!

Just a reminder that while the idiotic tariff situation is in place, there are still plenty of old games that are just as fun to play.

Like Orleans! I will never refuse an offer to play Orleans!

Got my ass handed to me again. Still love this game even though I seem to always finish dead last

I'm wondering what other Euro game would benefit from the addition of zombies? Maybe I can start with other Uwe Rosenberg titles:
Boneanza
Flesh for Odin
Dead Road
Cottage Garden of the Dead
New York Zombies
Caverna: The Dead Farmers

TIL that these iconic apartment buildings found throughout SoCal and LA are called "dingbats". I don't think I ever lived in one, but looking at these still gives me pangs of nostalgia. Someone want to send me an In-n-Out burger to Bali? www.youtube.com/watch?v=vlWv...

If you want something that’s a little more forgiving than Calico but a bit more crunchy than Cascadia, with a sprinkle of Kingdomino scoring mechanism, then maybe you should give Spectacular a try.

Player interaction in board games. When does it feel "just right"?

Some players feel like there must be some form of confrontation, where I am perfectly happy with multiplayer solitaire (and really hate when people destroy my lovingly-built engine).

What are some games that strike a balance?

Seize the Bean is an example of a game that brings with it a kind of emergent narrative. Improvements to your shop makes it more appealing to a certain demographic. Customer cards from that demographic get added to your deck and represent loyal customers that show up again and again.

For Northwood is one of the games that I always keep in my bag. Compact box that packs in a lot of strategy plus a lot of replayability in the included campaign booklet. I originally bought it because I was curious how solo trick-taking would even work. It works indeed. Very well!
