The one on the right is really only good for when you are unscrewing something hex shaped, because it's jaws are smooth. The one on the left has teeth to grip the fuck out of whatever you are wrenching.

NYC Capital Project Idea:
Gravesend Bay in Brooklyn used to be edged with natural sand beach (historic photo is 1924, when we had already started landfilling the beach. If we install jetties like we have at Rockaway, it will catch and hold sand and create more beach habitat for plovers/seals etc.
