I've always hated games that think creating difficult meta-mechanics for the player are being clever when they're usually just gating people with health issues out of participation. Like yeah I'm sure that board game where you hold your breath during your turn sounded clever but... holy shit guys

More than anything else you think any self-respecting sci-fi author would realize the people who shout "embrace the future! overlook the damage being caused!" are NOT the good guys in sci-fi. And no, just because they mention the damage done doesn't excuse them. They never say how to stop it.

It really says something how much the primary argument for pro-AI people is shifting to "well you can't stop it" rather than anything about it being a net-good for the world. The article spends most of it's text on inevitability vs utility, and their "utility" arguments are pretty feeble.

I still don't understand the purpose of something I have to re-verify all the output of. Wouldn't it be superior to simply use whatever thing I trust enough to double check with?

Every pedagogical argument I see is essentially "You could use it to do something you already do but you will also have to do a lot of setup and double check everything it does."

I'm starting to suspect a lot of "minimal use" AI disclosures are flat out lying too. Like... studio I sorta follow's next game had an AI disclosure saying it's just for localization text, but the reason I was looking for the AI disclosure was because the art looked so much worse than their usual

There was a game designer guest lecturing at my college and they said a shitty placeholder is the best option because it guarantees someone will get around to replacing it with proper art in record time.

I'm not saying people can't make it but I really don't understand the motivation in making it. My life has been dominated enough but shitty people and relationships, if I have a choice what to invest my emotions into I want to dream about actually **good** relationships

I wasn't expecting this but I'm here for it. Great idea XD

It's not fully reliable but at least I've noticed the more hostile ones literally can't fake it so saying a pro-trans thing is significant. I remember running into a guy that got fired because he'd rather get fired than check a box during corp training that just said trans people are people.

I've seen this in a disappointing variety of people. Suddenly the costs of the shortcut don't matter because they want the thing >.> Meanwhile I'm over here thinking "wanting something isn't a good enough reason for causing harm I thought we settled this when not killing your neighbor for his goat"

My parents were insisting they'd be "too scared to ever touch medicaid" and I'd almost look forward to saying something about it if I wasn't sure their response would still be disappointing

Oh what the hell. I've seen a lot of dumb "innovations" in PC stuff lately but this one is new to me even

More than 'all in this together' I think more people need to be stating the obvious: it's not a compromise because this isn't the only letter they're going to touch. Dropping the T is a trial run. The rest of the community won't be long behind them.
