Hi! My name is Fenix, I talk about urbanism and transportation in my home country of Brazil, to try bring awarness of what's going on around here. Hope you like what you see!

He/Him - Speak 🇧🇷🇺🇸🇪🇸 - Native of Jundiaí, SP - Metalhead
The curitiba BRT manages to have a higher capacity and be faster than most light rail systems in the U.S and Canada.
Skill issue or poor planning?

People seem to be going nuts over the new trains Amtrak and Via are getting
I'd like to remind you that the only 2 long distance passenger trains in Brazil (that are privately operated by a mining company) use Wabtec EMD locomotives with coaches built in Romania, also, narrow gauge

To be more specific it was on the 942 line on the B and D variants, the busiest variants of the local version of line 943.
These lines connect some of the most important transit centers in the city, but there's a lot of demand for people to disembark along the route
So basically, 2 months ago I emailed my city's department of transportation asking them to put articulated buses on a very busy line that got exclusively standard buses. They've since done that and I'd like to inform you that ridership has increased on the line since!

Perhaps the most promising thing about the Monon Corridor is that it'll open a whole new world for new electrified passenger services in disused railways.
Because if Northern Indiana can do it, why can't California? For example.
Babe, wake up: the South Shore Line posted a test train timelapse video of the new Monon Corridor, dashing through the snow on the new electrified route set to open in the 1st quarter of 2026! ⚡️🛤️

My city of Jundiaí has roughly 600k people and sits between the 2 most important cities in the state.
In the past 5 or so years we've been experiencing a huge population growth as people leave the bigger cities (São Paulo and Campinas) to move here.
However the infrastructure didn't grew +

Line 2 of Santos light rail system is finally here!
I'm happy to announce that the new paint scheme is horrible, trolleybus service should return soon and now it finally reaches the city center

A thing that has forever bothered me in regional rail systems in Anglo America, is their seating layout.
Here's a comparison between LIRR and CPTM. When you see a train with just seats, it's obviously more comfortable, but would you take it in rush hour?
Like, where do you stand?

FurFest has a map for their transport system, my city of nearly 600 thousand people doesn't
When will furries overtake the Brazilian government?
It's almost time to hop aboard the FurFest Transit Network!

Fun fact:
The extension of CPTM line 7 between Francisco Morato and Jundiaí is operated basically as a courtesy, since every station beyond FM is part of a different metro area.
However, the catenary is so ancient that no more than 2 trains can run on this section

For a community centered so much in the US, y'all not talking enough about the fact Miami just opened the first actual BRT system the US and Canada have ever seen.
Off board payment, enter through left doors, signal priority (apparently) and grade crossings on intersections

If anyone even cares, I've been sick and stressed, BUT, uploaded lots of videos in my channel, finished some scripts, started working on others and am already producing my next hot-topic urbanism video which will be translated to English.
Also made this site, enjoy

My new found hobby is to search for early buses. We had just found out that they were good, and needed them to be big, but also as weird as possible
We truly knew nothing about building buses as a society

Just as a reminder
RFFSA bought 12 DMUs from Ganz-Mávag in 1973 to be put into service in luxury "high-speed" passenger lines. They were retired in 1987.
BUT, Teresina, bought them in 1991 after a deal went through with Argentinian Materfer. They were refurbished 3 times and retired in 2018

It's honestly an insult for me the fact that my city used to have one of the coolest bus fleets in the country, and now, it's probably the 2nd most depressing

I'm all in the new Acela thing and all but, 7h5? Jesus I never realised the northeast corridor was THAT LONG
No wonder it's an opinion divider in the U.S urbanist scenario
Looking to iron out the details regarding the claim that NextGen Acela is either slower than when original Acela debuted, or its scheduled slower today than original Acela trips. And schedule searches show BOS-WAS NG trips at 7h5m while original at 6h50m. Any insights on why?

Today the 710 service was officially discontinuned by CPTM, here's the horrendous aftermath, why it'll only get worse, why it's a stupid decision, and how it's part of an even stupider decision.
Buckle up, this is a long one, and thank you so much if you do reach the end of it.
