My entire adult life, since Columbine in 99, we’ve been told we must tolerate routine school shootings to protect liberty, ensuring we have the guns needed to avoid the risk of a future authoritarian government. Turns out, the people with the guns are the most ardent supporters of authoritarianism.

I see Newsom’s tweets less as shamelessness and more as mocking shamelessness. Which is a lot more authentic than treating a clown seriously. Also not saying this approach is better than Mamdani’s. I like both.
