The only way to avoid this is to have some sort of compact, confederation, constitution, or ... wait. We've just reinvented government, but without all of the lessons and expertise embedded in how the previous government worked. Anarchy is a pleasant illusion. I prefer *stable* democracy.

I have some sympathy with anarchists *in theory*, but also recognize that power abhors a vacuum. Take away government power, and society won't magically stay "flat" all on its own. Some other group will rise - rather quickly - to take government's place. Literal autocracy.

LLMs can't be uninvented, but they can be made irrelevant. TBH that's not a very reassuring thought, though.

New York Times: from "paper of record" to "lining the birdcage of history".

So what band/era *is* it good to base your whole identity on?

Me, but Trader Joe's.

Greg Kelly sure does seem to enjoy those snuff films. Anybody checked his basement recently?

"Donald and girls in bikinis" could be interpreted to include Donald in a bikini.

Not sure if it would work for that series, but a (minor) villain modeled after one of these scammers might be fun in one of the others. I'd laugh so hard. Or maybe you've already done it? Still catching up on DF and HB.

The idea behind ACAB is that even the one you know, who's a genuinely good guy, is validating and supporting a generally oppressive system by their presence. Similarly, everyone at NYT is a bastard - including whichever one the reader likes. Like still being on Xitter, there's no excuse any more.

Many of them never learned to type well, and try to minimize it by leaving out the "connective tissue" of real writing. Also evident in many upper- or lower-class GenX, but not coders and office workers in between. Very similar to Millennial/GenZ text/chat shorthand, so let's not be ageist.
