Canon only came up on my end in a reply bc I noticed a difference in the tone of the marketing overall. There’s more effort regardless of translation.

Nintendo also does best with storytelling when either a) they abandon canon or b) lean into canon. So I’m acknowledging that there’s potential.

So going back to my original post.

I’m looking at one character on the box art. I’m seeing the potential for a really cool lore moment - canon OR NOT - and realizing it’s a 50/50 shot as to whether they roll with it. But that’s one single aspect of the game I wanted to acknowledge.

so what I’m hearing is that we’re remembering events differently coupled with probably differences in the translations we had access to

I am also hearing is that we’re in agreement on our outlook of this game.

My only pushback on that is that AoC’s marketing was never an “it’s canon!” Joyride but more of a “retelling” of the Calamity. AoI’s marketing approach has definitely been different enough for me to think “you could be cool. You could be really cool. I know you won’t but you Could Be”
