UK readers have been able to buy this (and all the other Tor.com releases) for 6 years already, even through UK bookstores.

Forbiddenplanet has carried the novellas for many years and I‘m sure there were plenty other options…

I've manually searched for a whole list of famous sci-fi authors from Asimov to Gibson to Jemisin and none of them exist. I guess that's proof you're the single most famous sci-fi author? 🧐

The more I look into this store the weirder it gets:

Already weird (but not too surprising) that you're tagged as "Shadows of the Apt" and "Children of time".

But oddly enough you seem to be the ONLY celebrity tagged as "Science Fiction Author".

I've seen those too and interestingly I can't make them show up in the .co.uk or .com version of eBay but they do show up in the .de and .ch version:

Seems to be from 1 account that just sells cardboard cutouts of all kinds of celebrities.

Hey, congrats! My friend and I ran into you on the first day and ended up talking about video games and your art for like an hour!

Sadly had to leave right before the awards but was delighted to see you won when I checked the results!

Also, this has to be the prettiest book award trophy ever!

This is the signed/numbered Subterranean Press edition with the slipcase, right?

exactly that one.

Then I guess it will remain just my own private head-canon that the modified jungle-humans went to space and got almost got discovered by aliens :)

Probably my favorite of your short stories btw!

With „Not a cat person“ a close second.

Which is funny because the first is one of your newest and the second one of your oldest!

“Sign up at the registration desk” means physically at the con where we pic up the badges I assume?

(Not that I miss Some online signup in the coming days)

Amazing! you have a few I’m still missing!

From what I can tell you’re still missing Feast&Famine, The Utopia of Us, the Nature magazine one and 2 of the Alchemy Press books.

There’s also „Apendix N“ which has a foreword by him and then there’s some hardcovers where you „only„ have paperbacks

Not disagreeing with you on LLMs at all. Just trying to clarify that there’s a huge world of non-LLM Machine Learning / AI which is muuuch less resource intensive and has been used successfully in pretty much every field of research!

The required resources can be low enough to run on an old laptop.

I think you’re using the term “AI” a bit narrowly here.

Machine Learning / AI has been used in Medicine, Climate Research and many other fields of science for at least 1-2 decades, quite successfully!

Not all AI is just LLMs.

See this paper on epilepsy detection from 2009 as an example.

Roar of the Crowd and Dress Rehearsal are both about the same group of actors, right?

Binds that Tie are also about travelling actors, but from the names and world I assumed it wasn't the same.

So I'm assuming the ordering (BtT in between RotC and DH) here doesn't imply any connection of the 3?

I'm ready for the RPG based on "One Day All This Will Be Yours". I already have my Jenga ready to go!

Are there any physical editions planned?

until the last few sentences I thought I understood what was going on, but that ending went over my head somehow…

(I’ve read 1984 of course but am unfamiliar with „We“. Looks like I have to give it a try!)

But Adrian himself has used in later interviews the parallel of the Corvids sounding like ChatGPT to argue that LLMs are good at sounding like humans without having any consciousness/intelligence.

CoM came out in spring of 2023, and was in development for at least 1.5 years.

Given ChatGPT was introduced in November 2022 (and took a while to become popular) it’s safe to say it wasn’t an intended commentary.

If you have the cash to spare, you can buy them all on AbeBooks or eBay.

Walking to Aldebaran is by far the most expensive ($400+ is what I often see, the others are often around $100ish)
