The bison are growing in their winter coats! And check out those bison bangs flowing in the wind. During winter months, bison develop extra thick, woolly fur, and even develop tougher skin to stay warm through cold temperatures.

Tanner, our rescued bobcat, had a blast with some special enrichment! 🐾 Keepers filled a green Kong with owl feathers and loosely buried it in his habitat. He not only dug it out but also rolled around in the feathers! 🪶

During Whittaker’s exam, the team discovered a small mass (which has already been removed) and a few broken canine teeth. We’ll keep a close watch as he continues to thrive. A big thank you to our dedicated team for helping Whittaker age with dignity, comfort, and top-notch care!

It’s rut season for our black-tailed deer! 🦌 Males are showing off their stunning antlers and competing for attention. These impressive antlers shed and regrow each year, and are a sign of health and strength during the fall mating season.

Meet Tahoma the bobcat for National Cat Day! 🐾

He came to Northwest Trek in 2020 after being kept illegally as a pet. He’s now living his best wild life. Tahoma loves to nap in the ferns and snack on chicken. It took him a little while to learn to climb trees, but he’s a natural now! 🌲🐱
