Colder, but overall quieter weather today as compared to yesterday. Lake effect showers this morning will taper off by the afternoon, with some light snow possible across the higher terrain areas in particular.

Snow showers will be possible tonight across the higher terrain. The map below shows the probability of measurable snow, with snow possible tonight into mid-morning Thursday. Where it does snow, accumulations are expected to remain below one inch, w/no travel concerns expected.

It's been a windy week already, and more wind is on the way Wednesday. SW winds will increase across Western NY by early PM, then winds will become NW with gusty winds spreading east into the rest of the area through late afternoon and evening. Peak gusts of 45-55 mph expected.

Low pressure passing just north of Lake Ontario may bring another round of strong, gusty winds Wednesday afternoon and evening, particularly across areas south of Lake Ontario. Winds may gust to 45-55 mph, with isolated higher gusts/wind damage possible with any heavier showers.

Lake enhanced/upslope showers and thunderstorms are moving southeast across the region this evening. Some of these storms coming off Lake Ontario will be capable of producing small hail and locally gusty winds, especially closer to the lakeshores.

WIND ADVISORY FRIDAY AFTERNOON - FRIDAY NIGHT for much of western and north central New York. Expect winds to gust up to 50mph with winds peaking between 2PM and 9PM. Gusty winds may blow around unsecured objects and Halloween decorations. Tree limbs may also blow down.

Moderate to heavy rain will move into the region starting tonight & early Thursday morning. Steadier rain will transition to showers Thursday evening through at least Friday. Breezy conditions can be expected for both Thursday/Friday afternoon/evening, especially near the lakes.
