You are leaving out the part where Republicans forced the USPS to *prepay* decades worth of pensions, by law. Who else has to do this? Nobody. They wanted to bankrupt them then, and want to bankrupt them now, so that private shipping takes over.
The USPS faces a tight squeeze. With fewer people using the mail, it’s lost more and more money: $9 billion in the 12 months ending in September alone.
