(She/her) Clinical nutrition is my jam. Weight neutrality. I often fall into research rabbit holes. Former chef. Queer ND squirrel. Trans rights must be protected - fight these fucksticks. I love my fur beasts and my kiddos. Peoria, Illinois.
Definitely the proudest son of Peoria, IL.

I saw that Atlantic article and it made me so mad that this is what they’re choosing to highlight. All it’ll do is make it harder for disabled kids to get accommodations.

I laughed way too hard at this.

As a physical anthro grad myself, I’ve never regretted my major for a second.

It was legit sooooo good. You do need a blowtorch for the icing though lol.

I made this s’mores cake with devils food cake layers, an Italian meringue buttercream that I toasted the meringue on to make it taste like toasted marshmallows, graham cracker crumble and a chocolate ganache.

I studied physical anthropology for my undergrad and my primary professor would go on angry rants about how bullshit all race science was. He was a solid dude.

They’ve actually found collusion on the part of hospitals who will increase their charges so that insurance companies can charge us more and both get a bigger share of the pie. So that’s fun.

Both my kids are done with their HPV vaccines, thank goodness. I saw they linked it to skin cancer as well earlier this year. www.nbcnews.com/news/amp/rcn...
A type of HPV has been found to cause skin cancer, according to a new report
A type of HPV, commonly found on the skin, could trigger skin cancer in people with weakened immune systems.

I wonder if this will decrease cases of skin cancer in Australia, since HPV was recently linked to some types of skin cancer as well.

The Libby’s factory is 20 minutes away from me, so Libby’s all the way, but I am picky about crust, ‘tis the ‘tism. My fave these days is using coconut oil for shortening and I grate the butter with a cheese grater rather than cutting it in, so less of a hassle for sure.

Listeria is primarily a bacteria that contaminates cooked, packaged meats, but it’s literally any precooked meat you buy. Raw meat bacteria are entirely different types of food bourne illness and vary from species to species and how the meat is processed.
November 26, 2025 at 12:12 PM
Hot dogs do NOT have “all the bacteria of raw”. They are a fully cooked product and the primary concern of eating one unheated would be listeria, same as any lunchmeat, which is a low risk for anyone but pregnant people and the immunocompromised.

Ironically we have a set menu for Christmas Eve but Christmas Day is whatever fancy takes me or my mom. Christmas Eve is always white wine garlic butter shrimp, French fries and French bread, because we always had that after closing our restaurant early on Xmas Eve since I was a kid.

Oh FFS! People, just admire the biscuit for its layers and move on unless you have something useful to say.

And it gets even worse when they’re toddlers and they say some cute shit and you repeat it because you don’t want them to stop saying it and now everyone in the family is saying it.

I have bought the 2nd half but have yet to play it.

Apparently “burning a CD” entered the lexicon a few months before this album came out, but it was in pretty specialized circles. I would guess it didn’t become a common phrase for another 3 or 4 years.

Except I’m pretty sure Tori meant he literally burns his CD’s because we didn’t have that tech for another few years, so I guess this means we’ve come full circle.

Sorensen is just so worthless. I suppose I shouldn’t be surprised since he was chosen to succeed Cheri Bustos but it’s depressing AF.

There are also a ton of underdiagnoses. In the 90’s, girls didn’t have ADHD, so it wasn’t until I was 41, doing my kid’s Vanderbilt and going “huh that’s an ADHD thing?” that I realized I was ADHD as fuck. You can’t know if treatment works if you don’t get it.
November 21, 2025 at 1:39 PM
Fun fact also is that bipolar is often a misdiagnosis for autism, especially in women.

Mini-Shells are trash and little macaronis like in Kraft are just objectively better in every way.

I did see a cool thing recently about how med students practice doing surgical stitching on grapes because they’re a great analogue.

Re: Polish people - that’s just selection bias on donors. My dad was 5’6 and 100% Polish and far from the only short person in my extended family.
