Denver Mayor Mike Johnston broke the news to city workers Thursday morning: The city is facing a $50 million deficit in 2025 and will have a $200 million deficit in 2026.
Denver’s $250M budget hole will force major cuts, furloughs and layoffs

Final Denver eviction filings for 2024. Denver set a new eviction record for the second straight year, shattering its 2023 record by 3,000 filings (a 23% jump). Note, too, that not all filings result in displacement and that evictions are often an undercount of actual displacement.

It was a brutal year. The city put $30m toward rental assistance over the year too. But the human cost of this wave of eviction has been staggering.

The House has overwhelmingly voted to condemn antisemitism — but the point of the bill is almost certainly the language saying the House “clearly and firmly states that anti-Zionism is antisemitism,” which will be used to justify suppression of a wide range of speech.
